Filmed in 1965, this Disney film is noted as the last movie for Ed Wynn. (His character was Rufus.) Wynn died before the release of the movie. It was also the last film of Matthew Garber (Rodney Winthrop in the movie). Walter Brennan has two roles in the movie. Brennan plays the millionaire, D.J. Mulrooney, and the elderly gnome, Knobby.
Walter Brennan does sing in the movie. In 1962, Walter Brennan's song, "Old Rivers" was a top 10 hit.
