Once  a week I pry myself from my bed and head to Pioneer Square to open the Impact Hub, where I am a host.

I love the Hub for many reasons. One of them is its location: Pioneer Square, just across the street from the Union Gospel Mission.

The Hub is modern and beautiful, with a large event room full of techie dream equipment. It is a stark contrast to the street outside, where most of our city's 'services' are located.

I slump in, turn on the lights, make coffee, then open the blinds. The North side of the building is primarily windows, floor to ceiling. And when I open the blinds the ten to thirty people lined up awaiting the mission look in. I wave. And they wave back, some smiling.

And it occurs to me how very thin the glass is.
