San Francisco State University (SFSU) was founded in 1899 as San Francisco State Normal School and was renamed San Francisco State University in 1974. It is part of the California State University (CSU) and is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. It offers Bachelor's degrees in 78 academic areas and Master's degrees in 63 academic areas. It also offers 17 credential programs and 35 certificate programs.
