There are several Chinatowns in Toronto.

The original Chinatown was located where Toronto City Hall and Nathan Phillips Square stand today. The City of Toronto expropriated buildings from Chinatown in the 1950's to make way for the new City Hall. Many families and businesses went bankrupt because of this, others moved west to form a new Chinatown centered at Spadina and Dundas, which still exists today, although many stores in this area are also Vietnamese.

Another "downtown" Chinatown is located at Broadview and Gerrard, in Riverdale.

A more recent suburban Chinatown is located in the northern part of "[Scarborough"]. One of the first suburban Chinese malls the Dragon Centre was located at Sheppard Ave East and Midland Ave. The neighbourhood of Agincourt is still sometime referred to as Asiancourt for the high percentage of Asians living in the area.

Now the centre of Scarborough's Chinatown has moved north to merge with Markham, Scarborough-Markham Chinatown has it's heart at Market Village and Pacific Mall which are located on the north side of Steeles Ave East at Kennedy Rd.
