Kathy Taylor was the 38th Mayor of Tulsa.  She was elected on April 4, 2006 and served until 2009. Prior to serving as mayor, Taylor was the Secretary of Commerce for the State of Oklahoma, where she led efforts to support small businesses, recruit and retain companies to Oklahoma, and develop the state's workforce through education and job training initiatives.

As mayor, Taylor's accomplishments include:

- Instituting COMPStat, a data-driven crime fighting tool that allowed the Tulsa Police Department to fight crime more efficiently and effectively

- Starting the Mayor's Mentoring to the Max! Initiative, which put over 400 mentors to mentor over 700 elementary students in 18 schools across multiple districts

- Holding the Building a Safer Tulsa Anti-Gang Summit with U.S. Attorney David O'Melia, bringing together over 250 Tulsans, police officers, and national anti-gang experts

- Helping to create Tulsa Achieves, a program that has allowed over 10,000 Tulsa students to attend TCC for free by volunteering 40 hours of community service per year

- Creating the Mayor's Police and Community Coalition to bring together police and citizens to work together to improve public safety

- Appointing the City's first ever Veterans' Liaison and starting the Veterans Treatment Court, to ensure that veterans are connected with services they need

- Convening the Complete Our Streets Committee and passing the City's largest ever streets investment to greatly improve the conditions of Tulsa's streets

- Leading the initiative to update the airport facilities to retain over 7,000 jobs at American Airlines

- Forming the North Tulsa Economic Development Initiative by inviting a group of business and community leaders to the Mayor's Office to discuss development in north Tulsa.  Through the work of NTEDi, the Shoppes on North Peoria vision became a reality

- Consolidating City of Tulsa services in one location at One Technology Center

- Finishing the BOK Center on time and on budget without going back to voters for more money when construction bids came in well over budget due to Hurricane Katrina

- Building ONEOK Field downtown to keep the Tulsa Drillers in town and to stimulate economic development downtown

- Getting the power back on after the 2007 Ice Storm, the worst ice storm in Tulsa's history

She is currently running for mayor in the Mayoral Election of 2013.
