Sixth Street runs north-south in two fragments through central and southern Woodland. It is situated just west of East Street.

The northern segment of Sixth Street runs from Court Street to Pendegast Street. It intersects Main Street (where 6th Street jogs sharply to the southwest), Lincoln AvenueOak Avenue, and Cross Street. Along the way, it passes by Maria's Cantina, Kelly Kooling Heating & Air, Rainbow Auto Glass, the Superior Court of California, County of Yolo Courthouse, the Children's Home Society of California, a Woodland Joint Unified School District administration building, the Woodland Police Department, the Historic Woodland Train Depot, Rancho Chain & Cable, and YES! e-Waste Recycling.

The northern segment of 6th Street has been planted with street trees by the city. The street trees include Valley Oak (Quercus lobata), which is native to Woodland. They also include ten non-native species: Trident Maple (Acer buergerianum), Norway Maple (Acer platanoides), Common Hackberry (Celtis occidentalis), Chinese Fringe Tree (Chionanthus retusus), Fruitless Mulberry (Morus alba), Chinese Pistache (Pistacia chinensis), London Plane (Platanus × hispanica), Northern Red Oak (Quercus rubra), Idaho Locust (Robinia × ambigua 'Idahoensis'), and Saw-leaf Zelkova (Zelkova serrata).

The southern segment of Sixth Street runs from Gum Avenue to County Road 24A at the southern border of town. It intersects Cottage Drive (which heads west only from 6th Street, and 6th Street curves slightly eastward at this intersection), Gibson Road, Archer Drive (west only), Sherman Street (east only), Carson Street (east only), El Dorado Drive (west only), and Donner Way (west only). Along the way, it passes by Everman Park and Tredway Park.
