Quail Drive runs roughly west-east between Robin Drive and Mallard Drive, situated slightly north of West Kentucky Avenue. The back fence property lines of houses on Quail Drive form the northern boundary of the city of Woodland for the full length of Quail Drive.

From west to east, Quail Drive intersects Owl Drive (which heads north only from Quail Drive but stops at the edge of town, after only one house length), Redwing Drive (southwest only), North Ashley Avenue, Hawk Drive (south only), and Dove Drive (south only). Quail Drive curves southeastward in the vicinity where it intersects Redwing Drive.

Quail Drive has been planted with street trees by the city. The street trees include three species native to WoodlandToyon (Heteromeles arbutifolia), Blue Oak (Quercus douglasii), and Valley Oak (Quercus lobata). They also include Western Hackberry (Celtis reticulata), which is native to other parts of California. Non-native street trees on Quail Drive include Chinese Hackberry (Celtis sinensis), Carolina Cherry Laurel (Prunus caroliniana), and Saw-leaf Zelkova (Zelkova serrata).
