The California Department of Fish and Game invites you on a guided tour of the Gray Lodge State Wildlife Area sanctuary, which is located at the base of the Sutter Buttes and is well known as one of the premier birding spots in northern California. Local experts will lead you on a 0.3-mile stroll, down a paved trail to elevated viewing deck. There you will have a bird’s-eye view of wildlife. Your guide will inform you of wildlife adaptations, natural history, and conservation efforts, and will help you better identify our wildlife. This is a fun way to learn about our wetlands. Tours take about two hours. Cost is included in the entrance fee for wildlife viewers. Self-guided visits are also welcome. Tours are canceled in heavy rain. No reservations necessary for groups under twelve people. For more information, call the Gray Lodge WA Naturalist Office (530) 846-7505 or email [email protected]
