Pleasant Grove Creek Canal, slightly west of Pleasant Grove. Photo by queerbychoice. Pleasant Grove is an unincorporated town in Sutter County. It is located north of Sankey; northeast of Verona; and southeast of Catlett, Nicolaus, East Nicolaus, and Trowbridge.

The U.S. Postal Service sometimes lists addresses in Catlett, Counsman, and Sankey as being in Pleasant Grove, because they are both in the 95668 zip code. However, on the Yuba-Sutter Wiki, we prefer listing the more specific locations.

History

In the early Gold Rush years, Pleasant Grove was a wagon and freight stop known as Gouge Eye. It acquired that name because of a saloon fight there in which one man gouged out the eye of another.1

Pleasant Grove has had its own post office since 1867, although it was called Pleasant Grove Creek Post Office until 1875.2
