The Sri Narayan Hindu Temple is the only Hindu temple in the Yuba-Sutter area. It primarily serves the local Punjabi-American community. The majority of Punjabi-Americans in the Yuba-Sutter area are Sikh, and the majority of people in the Punjab province of India are Muslim, but the majority of people in India as a whole are Hindu.

Hinduism is the world's third largest religious tradition, after Christianity and Islam, and is sometimes describes as the oldest surviving major religious tradition. It is an umbrella term for all religious beliefs derived from Vedic science. These beliefs are so varied that they span Monotheism, Polytheism, Panentheism, Pantheism, Monism, and Atheism.

The U.S. Religious Landscape Survey conducted in 2007 by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life found that 78% of Hindus in the U.S. are married, the highest percentage of any major religious group. Additionally, it found that 90% of married Hindus in the U.S. are married to someone of the same religious faith—which is also the highest percentage of any major religious group.1
