○ Being involved in a small group is a great way to connect to people in the church and community. If you're in a small group, you will be connecting with people by meeting every week, and learning about Jesus and how to witness about him to others in the community. ○ There are a variety of sports to get involved in for all ages. All Eastview sports leagues are open to anyone in the community. There are also various exercise classes to get involved in. ► About Eastview Christian Church:
Eastview Christian Church was started in 1955 in Bloomington, Illinois, with only 19 members. The services were originally held in the old Bloomington YMCA (which no longer exists), for the first five years. In 1960, a man named Galen Skinner became the church’s first full-time pastor. By this time, the church had moved to a location on Emerson Street in Bloomington, Illinois. This location is now home to another Bloomington church.
In 1965, the church moved again because of their growth. At this time, the pastor had changed to a man named Bob Phillips. They moved to a location on Towanda Avenue. Ten years later, while at this location, they had grown to approximately 500 people.
The next Pastor was a man named Gary York. Over a period of time of 20 years, the church had been expanding their facilities, because the church had grown to averaging 2700 people per week. In November of 1999, Eastview had moved to its current location on Airport Road in Normal, Illinois. In June of 2007, Mike Baker was hired as the pastor. With four main services every Sunday, the church now averages a weekly attendance of approximately 5500 people.
