Stoneflies are insects in the order Plecoptera. They include snowflies, needleflies, forestflies, willowflies, sallflies, roachflies, stripetails, springflies, and salmonflies. Many of these species are probably most familar to people who participate in fly fishing. Although the USGS range maps document only one species of stonefly in Yuba or Sutter Counties—the red stripetail of Sutter County—it is likely that other species exist here. The following stonefly species have been documented in adjacent counties.
