John Hansen is the former Dexter school district superintendent who has acted as a serial interim director of various governmental and institutional entities since a term in the State House. In 2012, Hansen was selected to be interim city manager for the City of Ypsilanti, only to leave after 2 weeks on the job.

He served as Superintendent of the Dexter Community Schools from 1984-1998. He was also State Representative for the 52nd House District from 1999-2002 where he served on the Energy & Technology, Agriculture and K-12 Appropriations Committees.

Most recently, Hansen has served in a number of interim governmental and educational roles, including interim city manager for the City of Chelsea and Scio Township, small towns on the western outskirts of Ann Arbor, as well as interim superintendent for the school districts of Brighton, Adrian and Willow Run.

The chamber planned to appoint an interim while they seek a permanent position for the post. Chamber leaders have said the interim CEO will not be considered for the permanent position.
