BLOOMINGDALE -- Mrs. Mayroe Simpson was given a birthday party on Friday eve­ning at her home by friends and relatives. She was presented with three birthday cakes and gifts. Guests were Mayroe M. Simp­son, Mrs. Lloyd [Ellen] Hayes, Eddie Simpson, August Simpson, Mrs. Dorothy White, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver [Bertha] Dyer of Rochester. Also Mr. and Mrs. Robert Beckett of Malone, Misses Priscilia, Theresa and June Oehler of Lake Clear; Robert Powers of Harrietstown, Miss Janet Scanlon of Saranac Lake and Miss Jeanette Ross of Ocean City, N. J.

BLOOMINGDALE — Bertha D. Simpson, 84, a resident of Bloomingdale since 1927, died Friday evening at Saranac Lake General Hospital. Mrs. Simpson was born in New York City, a daughter of August and Minnie Weiss Bruckman [sic]. Her husband, Mayroe Simpson, died in 1953. She was a charter member of Post 73, AMVETS Auxiliary of Bloomingdale. Survivors are: four sons, August of Bloomingdale, William of Malone, Charles of Rochester, and Edward of Pompano Beach, Fla.; three daughters, Dorothy White of Bloomingdale, Bertha Dyer of Rochester, and Alice Gordon of Orlando, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. An AMVETS service was held at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Fortune Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. The Funeral was at the funeral home at 10 a.m. today with the Rev. J. Bernard Fell, pastor of the Bloomingdale Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery in May.
