Miss Hilda Fletcher

SARANAC LAKE - Miss Hilda Fletcher, 97, of 168 Park Ave., died yesterday afternoon, May 3, at her home.

Miss Fletcher had been very active in community affairs. She had been a member of the Village Improvement Society, last serving as the chairman of the Denny Park project, and was, for many years, the chairman of the fund drive for the Saranac Lake Tuberculosis Society.

She had also served on the board of directors of the General Hospital of Saranac Lake, when the hospital was located on Winona Avenue.

She was a member of St. Luke's Parish and its Ladies Guild.

Miss Fletcher was born April 3, 1884, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of Stroughton J. and Lizzie Laural (Locke) Fletcher.

She came to Saranac Lake in 1922.

Two nieces, Mrs. Hilda Barnard of Ogdensburg and Mrs. Nancy Van Nostrand of Great Barrington, Long Island, survive.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m., at the Fletcher home, with the Rev. Philip Snyder of St. Luke's Church officiating.

Cremation will follow.

Funeral arrangements were with the Fortune Funeral Home.
