SARANAC LAKE - Marion LeJeune, 80, of 20 Church St., died Saturday, Dec. 27, at the General Hospital of Saranac Lake. She was born Nov. 18, 1906, in Staten Island, daughter of L. Kendrick and E. Marion (LaQuesne) Le-Jeune.
Miss LeJeune came to the Saranac Lake area as a patient at Stony Wold Sanitarium in the 1930's. She became a technician in the sanitarium's X-ray department in 1942, and when the sanitarium closed in 1955 she studied X-ray technology at the Saranac Lake Craft and Study Guild, receiving a certificate from the American Registration of Radiologic Technicians in 1958.
During that time, she worked at Trudeau Lab in Saranac Lake. In 1957 she went to work at the General Hospital of Saranac Lake and in 1958 became chief X-ray technician there, a position she held for many years.
She was also an instructor in the X-ray field at the Craft and Study Guild for 10 years.
In 1968, she became head of the Division of Nuclear Medicine at the hospital. Although she retired from full-time work in 1973, she continued to work part-time until 1976.
Miss LeJeune was a communicant of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Saranac Lake, a member of the St. Luke's Church Ladies Guild, St. Veronica's Altar Guild, and a past president of St. Anne's Guild.
A gifted local artist, she studied art in France and took her training at the New York School for Applied Design. She was a member and former president of the Paint and Palette Art Association, and, for ten years, she held the post of treasurer and co-chairman of the art association's summer Paint and Palette Festival. At the of her death, she was vice president and secretary of the Paint and Palette Association.
A member of the local Business and Professional Women's Club, she was also a member of the Oratorio Society of Saranac Lake, the Saranac Lake Choral Group and the Saranac Lake Adult Center.
Survivors include a sister, Gwendolyn Walsh of Salsbury, N.C.; a nephew, Kendrick Avent of West Hartford, Vt.; and a niece, Mrs. Joan Fuller of Atlanta, Ga.
Cremation has been held. Burial will be in Moravian Cemetery, Staten Island.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at St. Luke's Church with the Rev. Frederick Dennis, pastor, officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the General Hospital of Saranac Lake.
