About the Hall
Liverpool Philharmonic Hall is an Art Deco style building erected in 1939 and restored in 1995.
Liverpool Philharmonic Hall presents on average 300 concerts, events and films, attended by approximately 300,000 people per annum.
The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Buddy Holly all appeared here early on in their careers. Contemporary musicians, comedians, and films play on a regular basis.
Liverpool Philharmonic Hall continues to be known as one of the UK's premier arts and entertainment venues. It opened on 27th August 1849 before being dramatically destroyed by fire in 1933. 75 years on from the fire, the present hall, designed by architect Herbert Rowse, opened in 1939 and consists of a unique Walturdaw rising cinema screen, the only working screen of its type left in the world! Expect a whiff of nostalgia and the taste of green and blacks ice cream this is a great venue to take your grandma and argue about how cinema isn't as good as it used to be. As well as screening current releases, the philharmonic has kept the dream alive with screening classics from Alfred Hitchcock to Carol Reed. We only wish they brought back Wednesday afternoon's a la Brief Encounters and we had an excuse to leave work early and talk to strangers. Be strong and keep clapping.

Rubato - the Phil's Café Bar
Rubato features fabulous handmade sandwiches, salads with locally-sourced organic produce, toasted paninis, homemade soups, daily specials, homemade cakes and pastries, and cake from Dafna's Cheesecake Factory - all made with relentless dedication to quality and freshness.
Patrons can also enjoy a superb choice of Illy™ coffee, teas, soft drinks and selected wines and beers, in a casual yet sophisticated setting. There's free WiFi, great music (of course!) and newspapers. Why not give it a try for lunch (takeaway available), coffee and cake or a quick pre-concert supper?
We are located downstairs at Philharmonic Hall (entrance on Caledonia Street, just off Hope Street).
Opening Hours
Monday - Friday 11am to the end of the interval on all concert nights (until 4pm on non-concert nights). Saturdays and Sundays 5pm to end of the interval on all concert nights and from noon for Sunday afternoon concerts (closed on non-concert nights).
Grand Foyer Bar
We serve drinks in our wonderful Art Deco Grand Foyer Bar from 5pm on concert nights. The bar is also open 30 minutes after each Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra concert.
Rodewald Suite
The Rodewald Suite is a delightfully intimate space with its own entrance in Sugnall Street, home to the popular "After Eight" series of select roots, jazz and unplugged gigs.
With informal cabaret seating, an in-house bar, rooftop terrace and the opportunity to meet the artists and other guests after the performance, After Eight shows are a unique experience and a great night out.
