The City of Mississauga is participating in Jane's Walk for the first time, on Sunday May 3, 2009. This is an opportunity to explore Mississauga's lakefront communities. Each of the three featured neighbourhoods - Lakeview, Port Credit and Clarkson - will be showcased with a choice of two different guided walking tours.
Jane's Walk Mississauga - All tours are on Sunday May 3, 2009:
Lakeview Tours - 9 to 11 a.m.
- Meet at Lakefront Promenade Park at the ball park to discover the Lakeview Legacy Project,
- Or meet at the Adamson Estate on Enola Avenue to explore Adamson Estate, Smugglers cove, Lakeview Beach and Beaver Lodge.
Port Credit Tours - Noon to 2 p.m.
- Meet at the gazebo in Port Credit Memorial Park to explore Port Credit's main street and historical district,
- Or meet at the totem pole on the west bank of the Credit River for an interpretation of the Ghosts of The First Nations.
Clarkson Tours - 3 to 5 p.m.
- Meet in Jack Darling Park south parking lot to explore the Rattray Marsh,
- Or meet at Birchwood Park to experience Clarkson's history and future.
Mississauga is celebrating International Dawn Chorus Day on the same day.
Jane's Walk and International Dawn Chorus Day are being co-ordinated by a number of City of Mississauga departments with the assistance of a range of local community groups including the Port Credit Village Project, Heritage Mississauga, Mississauga South Historical Society, South Peel Naturalist Club, Lakeview Ratepayers Association and Port Credit BIA and Clarkson BIA.
