History

The Capitola Village was founded in 1837, with the creation of the esplanade. The Capitola Wharf was completed in 1838, which brought a booming fishermen trade to the village. Sailors and night life where abundant leading up to the Gold Rush.

Christmas time,  most of the houses above Capitola Village are outlined in lights.
