Nominated Mayoral Candidates

Expected or Declared Mayoral Candidates

  • Incumbent Mayor Rob Ford, has repeatedly declared during the past three years he is/was already running for re-election in 2014, and was expected to file nomination papers at the earliest possible date. In fact he did so on the morning of Thursday January 2 2014.
  • Olivia Chow - Currently the M.P. for Trinity-Spadina, Her name as a potential Mayoral Candidate remains in the news. She has publicly repeated "October is a long time away" referring to the actual Election Date of October 27 2014. She is currently spending at least two months on a Book Tour promoting her autobiography My Journey. Former 2010 Mayoral Candidate George Smitherman has privately asked and publicly endorsed Olivia Chow as a 2014 Mayoral Candidate. She is Expected to announce she is running after her book tour winds up.
  • Councillor Karen Stintz - She was the FIRST serious contender to declare she would be running saying so in late 2013. Councillor Stintz has yet to file her nomination papers. She has stepped down from her position as Chair of The TTC so as to avoid any perceived or actual Conflict of Interest while campaigning.
  • John Tory is the name the Mainstream Media keep mentioning for some oddball reason, despite his repeated answer that NO, he is NOT running, even though people keep asking him if he is running. Then, word gets out he is considering a run by assembling a potential campaign team. If there is a Candidate who Cried Mayor, it's Tory.
  • SURPRISE: Perennial Candidate for any position than opens in almost every current election, Kevin Clarke as an expected Mayoral Candidate Declared early on he is NOT running for Mayor in 2014. If there is an honest surprise this election, it's this. But hey, maybe he'll change his mind.
