Goldie Breier (nee Mahaney) was born in Saranac and moved with her family to Averyville. She eventually married Albert Breier, and they had one daughter, Martha. The family lived at 6 Circle Street.

Goldie E. Breier
Goldie E. Breier, 86, of 24 Franklin Ave. died at Mercy General Hospital where she has been a patient for seven months. Mrs. Breier was born in Saranac and had lived in Saranac Lake for 65 years. Her husband, Albert, died in August, 1947. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Women's Society for Christian Service, and Kiwassa Rebekah Lodge 32. Survivors are: a daughter. Mrs. Major (Martha) Day of Upper Saranac Lake; three grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. Friends may call this evening at the Fortune Funeral Home. A Rebekah service will be held at 8 o'clock. The funeral service will be at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Eric R. King, pastor of the Methodist Church, conducting the service. Interment will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery in May.
