The Sutter Bypass is a floodwater bypass that diverts excess water from the Sacramento River between two large levees. It extends from approximately West Butte to Verona. Each winter, it fills with as much as 12 feet of water or more. A large portion of it overlaps with Sutter National Wildlife Refuge.
