Oak Avenue and East Oak Avenue together run east-west across a portion of south-central and eastern Woodland (south of Main Street). Oak Avenue becomes East Oak Avenue east of East Street.

Oak Avenue is named for Oak trees, three species of which are native to Woodland. It is one of many streets in Woodland that are named for trees.

Oak Avenue intersects six different alleys, none of which have official names. Only three of Woodland's many alleys have official names.

Oak Avenue

Oak Avenue runs from East Street to West Street, slightly offset at College Street. Situated south of Lincoln Avenue and north of Cross Street, it intersects the following streets in order from East to West:

  3. Fifth Bliss Alley (south only; the alley is not officially named)
  4. 4th Street
  5. Giant Monkey Alley (north only; the alley is not officially named)
  6. 3rd Street
  7. 2nd Street

  9. Scout Alley (north only; the alley is not officially named)
  10. College Street (Oak Avenue jogs one lot width to the southwest at College Street)
  11. Dingle Alley (north only; the alley is not officially named)
  12. Dingle Lane (south only)
  13. Elm Street (north)
  14. Elm Street (south: Elm Street is offset by one lot width at Oak Avenue)
  15. Crossed Trees Alley (north only; the alley is not officially named)
  16. City Trees Alley (south only; the alley is not officially named)
  17. Walnut Street
  18. Cleveland Street
  19. Saunders Way (north only)
  20. McKinley Avenue

Along the way, Oak Avenue passes by the Historic Woodland Train Depot, Dingle Elementary School, and City Park before ending at Lee Middle School.

Oak Avenue has been planted with street trees by the city. The street trees include two invasive weed species: Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus altissima) and Chinese Tallow Tree (Triadica sebifera). However, they also include two species native to Woodland: Valley Oak (Quercus lobata) and Interior Live Oak (Quercus wislizeni). Other non-native street trees on Oak Avenue include Trident Maple (Acer buergerianum), Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum), Deodar Cedar (Cedrus deodara), Common Hackberry (Celtis occidentalis), Mediterranean Fan Palm (Chamaerops humilis), Chinese Fringe Tree (Chionanthus retusus), Chitalpa Trees (Chitalpa tashkentensis), Smooth Arizona Cypress (Cupressus glabra), Maidenhair Tree (Ginkgo biloba), Goldenrain Tree (Koelreuteria paniculata), Crape Myrtle (Lagerstroemia indica), European Bay Laurel (Laurus nobilis), Southern Magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora), Chinese Pistache (Pistacia chinensis), London Plane (Platanus × hispanica), Little-leaf Linden (Tilia cordata), California Fan Palm (Washingtonia filifera), and Saw-leaf Zelkova (Zelkova serrata).

East Oak Avenue

East Oak Avenue runs from East Street to Matmor Road. It intersects Denise Drive, Johnston Street, Thomas Street, and Geoffrey Street. Along the way, it passes by Mobil and Woodland Propane and Gasoline.
